Jacques LeCoultre embraced the challenge and succeeded in crafting some of the most slender timepieces of the time, including the record-setting thinnest watch in 1907. This achievement marked the beginning of a legendary alliance between two master horologists, laying the foundation for the esteemed brand we recognise today. The fruitful collaboration eventually culminated in the unification of the two workshops, and in 1937, the brand was officially christened as Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Calibre 101

The Calibre 101 stands as a marvel of precision engineering, remarkable for its incredibly diminutive size. It boasts a weight of roughly one gram and dimensions of 14mm in length and under 5mm in width, yet it houses 98 individual components. This manually wound movement holds the title of being the world’s tiniest mechanical movement.

Watches housing the precious calibre 101 reflect the inside with sleek curves and diamond enhancements. The calibre was even loved by the late Queen Elizabeth II and can be seen glinting off the flashlights of cameras at her coronation in 1952.

Memovox

An idea sparked from the classic chiming mechanism within The Sound Maker, the Memovox is a spectacular movement. Meaning ‘the voice of memory’ the watch works an alarm of sorts with a vintage flare.

In 1956, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the pioneering Calibre 815, the world’s inaugural automatic alarm watch. Following this, the 1959 Memovox Deep Sea was designed with divers in mind, providing crucial alerts for the start of their ascent. The legacy of the Memovox’s ingenuity is upheld to the present, with the addition of contemporary features like timers and displays for 24-hour time zones.

Atmos
