007's New Watch, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300m

The most anticipated movie of 2021, No Time To Die is the newest James Bond film soon to hit our screens in September 2021. Starring Daniel Craig in his final portrayal as the beloved British spy, No Time To Die is sure to be a smash hit treating audiences to action, style and suspense, exactly what you want from a Bond film.

So what can we expect from the 25th James Bond adventure? Retired from active service, James Bond finds himself being pulled back into the spy life after old friend and CIA officer seeks assistance to find a kidnapped scientist. Bond finds himself on the trial of a mysterious and dangerous new villain who is armed with deadly new technology.

No matter what situation James Bond finds himself in, we can always rely on him to look sharp while doing so. Typically suited and booted, Bond can also be seen wearing a top quality watch which is typically kitted out to help him on his missions. Being the watch lovers we are here at Chisholm Hunter, we had to get a look at the newest Bond watch, and what an exquisite watch it is! Created by Swiss watchmaking legends, Omega, this timepiece will certainly go down in history as one of the coolest, beautifully designed Bond watches. We got to take a close up look at the Limited Edition Bond Omega Seamaster 300m Divers watch ahead of the movie's release and boy, are you in for a treat when you see this watch!

007 | Ready for Action

There are a lot of conditions that a Bond watch must meet, it must be functional and ready for action, and must look effortlessly cool. We definitely think that this Omega Seamaster 300m Divers fits the bill. So lets inspect this style further then, shall we?

Water Resistance

Being a divers watch, we would expect the water resistance of this timepiece to be great. This Omega Bond Watch is water resistant up to 300m so is well protected should Bond find himself in a situation where he needs to bail out into the ocean, which must not be that uncommon in the life of a spy.

Materials

We've all seen how much action James Bond encounters while on the job, so the Bond watch needs to be made from lightweight and durable materials, something Omega have definitely thought about in the creation of this timepiece. Brushed Grade 2 Titanium is used on this watch not only because it is lightweight, but it is a really stealthy, durable material and can definitely take a knock or two in combat. The reason behind brushed titanium as opposed to the more common polished titanium is that polished titanium tends to reflect light and draw attention whereas the brushed titanium is more muted and subtle, much more appropriate for a spy who's trying to remain discreet.

Watch Size

The case size on this watch comes in at a comfortable 42mm, the perfect in-between size and fits comfortably on the wrist. The lug to lug size comes in at 49mm so overall the perfect size for a super spy.

The Dial

The dial on this watch is a beautiful deep grey colour with brown hour markers and details. A little pop of red can also be seen at the end of the seconds hand and the word Seamaster is also in red, which even though are small details, the colour really pops against the grey dial. Surrounding the dial on this watch is a uni-directional rotating bezel, which is commonly used with divers across the globe. A feature we love and has become standard for Omega watches, the hands and markers on this watch are filled with Super Luminova which glows blue in the dark, so if you ever find yourself trapped in a dark space, at least your watch is highly readable!

The Movement

At the core and powering the whole watch is the Omega Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 which is fully automatic, so no need to worry about regular winding. This watch also has a power reserve of an incredible 55 hours, perfect for long missions.

Hidden Features

This watch has some sneaky hidden details that make it so special as the Limited Edition James Bond Watch. On the dial you can see a little arrow. This is really interesting as this specific arrow is known as the "Broad Arrow" and is traditionally used to identify British Government property, a nice little feature for our favourite MI6 agent. If you turn the watch over, the case back also features the same Broad Arrow but also the number 62. This is significant as this is the year the first ever James Bond film, Dr No, was released. Although a little feature, this is a touching nod to the Bond movie series and the history of the franchise.
