Behind the Scenes: Bremont Townhouse 2019

This week, Bremont unveiled their first releases of 2019 at, what has become a staple of every horologist's calendar, their Townhouse event in London. With many watch companies pulling back from multi-brand events like BaselWorld and SIHH, Bremont have paved the way for solo launch events with their week-long show, now in its third year.

Bremont are proudly British, with their watches assembled in the UK in Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and founded in 2002 by the aptly named brothers, Nick and Giles English. Whilst their heritage comes from aviation, and this has been their main focus throughout the last 20 years, they have delved into diving watches; with their Supermarine range, racing watches; with their Jaguar models and sports watches, like last year's Endurance model.

They also have an impressive range of Limited Edition watches, usually these have a link to British Military or Aviation history, like the HMS Victory (which incorporated original oak timber and copper from the vessel into the watch) and the Supersonic (which had aluminium from Alpha Bravo, Heathrow's last remaining Concorde in the watch).

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Martin Baker range from Bremont and at Townhouse, they have released an exclusive Limited Edition timepiece to mark the occasion. The MBIII is limited to only 310 models worldwide and is available on a stainless steel bracelet and a black leather strap. The models are priced at £4,595 and £4,195 respectively and are expected to be available in June 2019. Bremont have also added some attractive new lines to their, already excellent, Supermarine range. Following the success of the S300 line released at the first Townhouse event in 2017, they have added a white dial to diversify the range. This line has a smaller case profile than the other Supermarine models, sized at 40mm rather than 45mm. The white dial comes on a bracelet or a blue rubber strap with an additional blue and white Nato strap and are priced at £3,395 and £2,995 respectively. Interestingly, Bremont have gone in a slightly different direction with this new range, instead of playing it safe and extending an already existing and successful family they have decided to create a whole new line called the HMAF. HMAF is an acronym for Her Majesty's Armed Forces and the range includes three watches that have been approved for use in the British Armed Forces. In Bremont's own words, The Bremont Armed Forces Collection aims to appeal to both military personnel and civilians alike, delivering a range that combines the need for performance and reliability. And it does just that, with two Aviation inspired models and a Navy inspired watch, it really does appeal to everyone and particularly to fans of vintage Military inspired watches.
