Who Are Citizen?

Founded in 1918 in the growing city of Tokyo, Japan. Kamekichi Yamazaki co-founded the Shokosha Watch Research Insitute with the goal of shaping and developing the watchmaking of the Eastern world.  

Unveiling their first in-house timepiece, a sophisticated pocket watch, in 1924, it was the Mayor of Tokyo who suggested the grand name of Citizen. A symbol of the brand's dedication to crafting impeccable watches that the citizens of Tokyo can afford and love.  

Citizen’s mastery in manufacturing almost all parts of their watches, including the movements, cases, and hands, within their own facilities, has enabled them to deliver high-quality yet cost-effective timepieces to a worldwide audience. Their dedication to streamlined and superior production methods is the reason they can create a full quartz movement every single second.

Presently, Citizen stands as a global leader among watchmakers, consistently pioneering advancements like their solar-powered ‘Eco-Drive’ technology.
