Vacheron Constantin is, quite simply, one of the finest and most prestigious watchmakers in the world.

The maison was founded on the 17^th of September 1755 by Jean-Marc Vacheron in the city of Fribourg, Switzerland and has been continuously operating ever since. The company passed down to Jean-Marc's son Abraham, who in turn entrusted the company to Jacques-Barthlmi Vacheron. It was under his leadership that the company headed in a new direction after his chance encounter with businessman and watch enthusiast François Constantin. Together they formed the company Vacheron et Constantin', and the rest is history.

Vacheron Constantin, as a brand, is responsible for numerous innovations and milestones within the watchmaking industry and have a long catalogue of truly iconic timepieces. In 1907, the maison launched the Chronomtre Royal, a pocket-sized chronometer that became an international success thanks to its incredible durability, reliability, precision and ability to function in harsh environments. 

Fast forward to 1946 and Vacheron Constantin were once again pushing watchmaking limits with the production of a custom pocket watch for King Farouk of Egypt. Taking five years to complete and contained a staggering 14 complications, all of which was housed in an 18ct yellow gold case. A similar piece belonging to his father King Fuad I fetched an astonishing $2.77m at auction in 2005. 

By 2015, to commemorate their 260^th year of existence, Vacheron Constantin produced the most complicated pocket watch of all time featuring a truly jaw-dropping 57 complications. It took eight years to develop and craft this masterpiece, a special commission for a collector, that is valued at around $8m.
